Fnatic, by all standards, is one of Southeast Asia’s powerhouse teams. However, their recent beating from Mineski at The Summit SEA Qualifiers shows that they simply can’t let complacency seep in. What’s more the result proves that Mineski is back in the spot of Fnatic’s main SEA rival.

The series went the distance with Fnatic taking games one and three, while Mineski grabbed the second and fourth map. In the end, strong showings by Ryan Jay “ragingpotato” Qui and Carlo “Kuku” Palad sealed the deal for the Filipino side in the series’ final game.

Mineski demonstrated they’d brought their A-game in order to get that win. They kept their cool, played patiently, and preferred to lose a couple of heroes rather than engage in disadvantageous fights (and give momentum to the other side). This was particularly clear in the 4th and 5th game when the Filipino side tried to disengage after getting caught in awkward positions.

It was a very close match; despite Mineski playing well, they did make some silly mistakes which allowed Fnatic to capitalize posing a threat at every stage of the matchup.

With these results, the head-to-head ratings between these two SEA heavyweights are as follows:

  • 3-2 (The Summit 4 SEA Qualifier Grand Finals, Mineski)
  • 2-0 (The Summit 4 SEA Qualifier Upper Bracket Finals, Fnatic)
  • 2-1 (Frankfurt Dota 2 Major Upper Bracket Finals, Mineski)
  • 2-0 (ESL One New York SEA Qualifier Grand Finals, Fnatic)

So, both teams have one two out of the four games, but when it comes to maps won, Fnatic are in the lead.

Their next big-ticket match will be at the Frankfurt Dota 2 Major which is taking place 16 -21 November 2015. They’ll be representing the SEA region against some of the best teams in the world including Team Secret, Vici Gaming and Vega Squadron.

Neither team will be favorites to win, however the fact that they’re in the mix proves that SEA Dota is back on the world map.
