All-Star Predictions: Will Team Fire be too hot in Los Angeles?

The All-Star Event will be hosted by Riot Games in Los Angeles, California, on December 10-13 and is rightly being billed as the ultimate League of Legends challenge, with the best players in the world set to take part.

The contestants at the All-Star Los Angeles 2015 will be separated into two teams, Team Fire and Team Ice, based on the performances of each region at the Worlds. Meanwhile, Team CIS have secured the International Wildcard entry for winning the IWC All-Star Melbourne. The members of Team Fire will spawn from LCK, LMS and NA LCS while those of Team Ice will be from EU LCS, LPL and IWC territories.

It’s tough to try and predict this year’s winning team, but if we take a closer look at the combatants in each side, Team Fire are arguably narrow favourites. The individual powerful skills of Korean players from teams such as SK Telecom T1, KOO Tigers, CJ Entus and KT Rolster combined with the smart strategic abilities of NA LCS players from Team SoloMid, Cloud9 and Counter Logic Gaming give Team Fire the edge.

In addition, the stars of LMS (the weakest of the three regions in Team Fire) are still seemingly stronger than the weakest members of Team Ice, the winners of this year’s IWC All-Star Melbourne. This is largely because the participants of IWC come from Brazil, Latin America, Japan, Oceania, the CIS, SEA and Turkey, places which do not yet have a strong tradition in the LoL scene.

Team Fire can boast powerful players such as the Top Laner MaRin who has two favourite LoL characters. The first is Rumble, with whom he has achieved 12 wins and just two losses, with 3.7 kills/deaths/assists overall. With his second character Maokai, he has an even stronger record of 11 wins and 0 losses, with 7.2 kills/deaths/assists overall.

The Mid Laner of SK Telecom T1, Faker, is also really tough. He usually plays with Viktor and has stats show seven wins and two losses, with 5.6 kills/deaths/assists overall.

Another key player for Team Fire is AD Carry Doublelift as he counts seven wins and 0 defeats, with seven kills and 1.43 deaths per game with his favourite LoL character Tristana.

The key players from Team Ice are also strong, particularly those who from EU LCS. Amazing, the Jungler of Origen, usually plays with Gragas and has seven wins and five losses, with 2.4 kills and 2.25 deaths per game.

Meanwhile, Rekkles the AD Carry of Fnatic, is widely considered to be one of the toughest gamers in the competition as he uses Sivir and Kalista and counts six wins and 0 losses with both of them.

Finally, kaSing, the Support of Team SoloMid, has 10 wins and two losses, with one kill, 2.08 deaths and 11.25 assists per game with his favourite character, Thresh.

While Team Fire do look to be made up of stronger players and are narrow favourites to win the competition, nothing can be taken for granted as All-Star Los Angeles 2015 is a unique championship. It involves teams based on regions and so the participants have not had the experience of playing together before. This could also end up working in favour of Team Ice and particularly Team IWC, as they have momentum and experience of each other’s gameplay after becoming the champions of IWC All-Star Melbourne 2015.
