NewBee outclasses NP in ZOTAC Cup Masters finale

NewBee dominated the first ever ZOTAC Cup from start to finish, dropping only two games in the whole tournament and displayed excellent patch mastery against NP in the final 3-1 in Taipei, Taiwan.

The Chinese team defeated Digital Chaos and iG.Vitality to take Group A and seal a spot to the semi-final, where it took down Fnatic 2-1 to set a date with Group B leader NP in the final battle for $50,000.

NewBee capitalized on its strengths and outmaneuvered NP in every turn in Game 1, where they had a 48-18 kill score lead.

But NP were able to draft Legion Commander and Io for MSS and PLD, respectively, in Game 2 and the Anime squad scratched their way to a 57-minute victory over NewBee to tie the series at 1-all.

The Chinese team decided to ban Io for the rest of the series, and NewBee cake-walked over NP in Games 3 and 4 to win the championship.

NewBee took home half the prize pool, while NP pocketed $20,000.

The LAN event was held to celebrate the 10th year of ZOTAC Cup competitions.

 

DC replaces CG in Summit 7 due to visa issues

Digital Chaos received a last-minute invitation to the Summit 7 after SEA representatives Clutch Gamers failed to get its players’ visas approved in time for the event.

The Malaysia-based, all-Filipino squad topped SEA staples like Team Faceless, TNC Pro Team and Fnatic to seal the ticket to event in Los Angeles, California but had their visa applications denied.

DC, based in the US, finished second in the American qualifiers and will get to play in CG’s place. DC has a Filipino player in Abed, the team’s midlaner and lone 9K MMR star.

CDEC Gaming, which stunned Chinese giant teams like NewBee and Invictus Gaming in the qualifiers, also saw their tickets revoked after its visa applications got derailed.

LGD Gaming, which placed second in the China qualifiers, will play in CDEC’s stead.

 

EG, LFY stand out in EPICENTER group stage

Evil Geniuses and LGD.Forever Young have both secured tickets to the EPICENTER 2017 semifinals after topping their groups in Moscow, respectively.

Fresh from a championship in Manila Masters, EG rattled off to a great start in Group B and swept all their opponents, including DAC 2017 champions Invictus Gaming and hometown favorites Virtus.Pro.

In a more surprising way, LFY topped Group A after beating powerhouses like four-Major winner OG, StarLadder double champion Liquid.

As of writing, Team Secret is getting ready to fight IG for a date with EG in the semis, while Liquid is gearing up for a battle with Virtus.Pro for a semifinal clash against LFY.

Summer Split Update

Samsung extends unbeaten start to lead LCK Summer

After a stunning sweep of SKT T1 in its league opener, Samsung Galaxy has won another three series to take a surprising lead atop the 2017 LCK Summer Split table.

SSG shocked the world after dismantling MSI 2017 winner SKT in the Telecom wars and has followed that with a 2-1 series win over Rox Tigers, a 2-1 victory over Afreeca Freecs and a 2-0 beating of MVP.

Below SSG in the LCK table in the early stages of the Split are Jin Air Green Wings, Longzhu, SKT and KT Rolster, who are all at 2-1.

 

Undefeated Fnatic leads EU LCS Summer

Fnatic rolled off to a wonderful start in the 2017 EC LCS Summer Split and won its first three series to take the early top spot in Group A.

The Orange and Silver squad outlasted Spring Split champion G2 Esports 2-1 for its third win in the league, following its wins over Misfits and Ninjas in Pyjamas.

In Group B, H2K also established an early lead in the table after winning its first two series, one against Mysterious Monkeys and one against Splyce.

 

Echo Fox establishes early lead in NA LCS Summer

Echo Fox is the surprise early leaders of 2017 NA LCS Summer Split after it swept its series in Week 1 of the tournament.

The Foxes beat FlyQuest eSports and Team Liquid and was the only team to finish Week without dropping games.

Counter Logic Gaming, Immortals and Team Dignitas are also 2-0 in the table but they lost games in their series.

Spring Split champion Team SoloMid is 1-1, along with Team EnVyUs.

 

 

Overwatch

Rogue cruises past eUnited 3-1 in TakeOver 2 final

Rogue successfully defended its crown after beating eUnited 3-1 at the TakeOver2 final at Krefeld, Germany.

The All-French roster dropped only game in the whole tournament, sweeping its way past the group stages, the semis, the winners’ final before losing Game 3 against eUnited in the final.

As champion, Rogue pocketed $25,000, which is 10 times bigger than the prize they won in the first TakeOver in 2016.

 

Selfless’ Dafran gets ban after rule violation

Selfless Gaming’s Dafran gets slapped with a ban from this current competitive season after violating Rule 7.0 of the Contenders Ruleset, as announced by Blizzard.

According to the announcement, Dafran is banned from Overwatch Contenders Season Zero and Season One and all Blizzard-sanctioned tournaments this season.”

sinatraa will replace Dafran as the sub DPS player for SG, which won the Overwatch Rumble in the month of May.
